Flying Falcon
Posted on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 in Knives

How come no one ever dies on the Millenium Falcon when they do a U-turn and fly upside down?
None of them are ever strapped in?
Because the majority of the main characters are onboard. If they died, the films would be pretty short.

Flyboys (Widescreen Edition) $5.50 World War I aviation action gets an impressive digital upgrade in Flyboys, a welcome addition to the “dogfight” sub-genre that includes such previous war-in-the-air films like Hell’s Angels, Wings, and The Blue Max. While those earlier films had the advantage of real and genuinely dangerous flight scenes (resulting, in some cases, in fatal accidents during production), Flyboys takes full (and safe… |

Falcon Quinn and the Black Mirror $6.99 Thirteen-year-old Falcon Quinn and his neighbors, Max and Megan, board bus number 13 for school on an ordinary day in Cold River, Maine. Only the bus doesn’t take its ordinary route, and Falcon and his friends soon find themselves in an extraordinary place—on Shadow Island, at the Academy for Monsters. With a student body stranger than the cast of any monster movie Falcon has ever seen, the academy is home to creatures and oddities of all kinds. In the academy’s atmosphere, Falcon’s friends begin to unleash and enjoy their monster natures, from flying with Pearl, La Chupakabra , to decaying with the “Zombie Snap.” Falcon has always felt different, with his one bright blue eye and one shadow-black eye, but is he really a monster ? Will he discover the other thing that makes him different when he finds himself in the Black Mirror? And when he learns that the school’s mission is to teach students to hide their aberrant natures, Falcon and his friends need to find a way to fight back for their monster selves. Bestselling author Jennifer Finney Boylan introduces Falcon, Max, Megan, and their band of monster friends in this first installment of a hair-raising and sidesplitting adventure of monstrous proportions. |

Falcon Seven $9.99 New York Times bestselling author James W. Huston returns with his most powerful thriller to date . Exploding with international intrigue, sizzling courtroom drama, and heart-stopping action, Falcon Seven delivers an all-too-realistic tale of America under fire. A U.S. Navy F/A-18 flying over Afghanistan is suddenly diverted and ordered to bomb a building in Pakistan, where a meeting between al Qaeda and the Taliban is taking place. After destroying their target, the fighter jet is immediately hit by Stinger missiles and the pilots eject over Pakistan. They are captured, assaulted, and dragged through the streets of Peshawar. The world is on edge. The fliers are quickly forced onto a secret Falcon jet headed for the Netherlands, where they’ll stand trial for war crimes at the International Criminal Court. The building they hit was actually a medical post constructed by Europeans for Afghan refugees—and sixty-five innocent people were killed. It’s up to Washington criminal defense lawyer and former Navy SEAL Jack Caskey to defend the two navy officers and get to the bottom on what is beginning to seem like an orchestrated event. The National Security Council pushes President Obama to employ the act passed under George W. Bush that authorizes the use of force to extract Americans held by the International Criminal Court. While the president initially approves a special operations team to grab the Americans, he later withdraws to cooperate with the ICC. Already fighting a losing battle for his clients, an outraged Caskey works with his contacts in the shadowy world of special operations and CIA operatives to free his clients himself . . . or help them battle through an international show trial and face imprisonment—for life. |
