Molly Hatchet Band Album Covers

Posted on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 in Knives

Why are Molly Hatchet album covers so awesome?

We can all agree they are totally awesome. But why? Why did this souther rock band end up getting the most awesome album covers of all time? They look like.. I don’t know.. They’re just so awesome, definitely better than Molly Hatchet itself. That’s not to say Molly Hatchet is bad, that’s just to say that these album covers are insanely awesome.
Well… those things are true, but that’s not quite what I’m looking for. I don’t think it’s a pat answer, this is some philosophical stuff. I’m dead serious. These images are simply amazing, better than anything else I’ve ever seen. Including other work by the artist. Plus, about capturing the brand and image of the band, I just flat out disagree. Molly Hatchet does not sound how these album covers look.

Cause they’re often Frank Frazetta paintings. And he was one of the coolest artists of all time

Molly Hatchet: Live in Kentucky

PAL/Region 0. Hard-driving, non-stop Southern Rock from the classic band Molly Hatchet – featuring both seminal lead guitarist Bobby Ingram and founding Hatchet lead guitarist Dave Hlubek, in a packed 2006 show in Kentucky. The band’s biggest hit, `Flirtin’ With Disaster,’ is given blistering treatment here – but so are a raft of great songs associated with the late founding Molly Hatchet songwriter and singer Danny Joe Brown: `Whiskey Man,’ `Bounty Hunter,’ and `Devil’s Canyon’ among them. And covers of classics by both Gregg Allman and Eric Clapton make the concert truly a Southern Rock guitar extravaganza. A mindblowing evening of killer Rock ‘n’ Roll.

The Essential Molly Hatchet

The Essential Molly Hatchet

$7.17

Molly Hatchet’s long and illustrious career has many times taken the band down a highway late at night, going from town to town unflinchingly rocking many to their foundations. It’s easy to imagine the bandmembers reveling in all-night partying and playing some steely-eyed, good-time simple rock & roll with every ounce of sweat and soul in their bodies. Then right before the run rises, they have to pack up and get ready to do it all over again the next night in some other lonely town in another lonely place. It’s the story of many an American band, and no one tells it better than Molly Hatchet. Showing relentless pride for its roots, Molly Hatchet unabashedly tells the story of the South and rocks harder than most of its contemporaries, and this essential release covers all of the bases from the band’s decades of rocking without mercy. Hatchet fans need not look any further than to put this collection on their shelves. It’s the audio diary of a band whose legacy is finally due. ~ Rob Theakston, Rovi Performers: Banner Thomas – Bass, Guitar (Bass); Barry “B.B.” Borden – Drums; Bruce Crump – Drums; Danny Joe Brown Band – Bass, Vocals; Dave Hlubek – Vocals (Background), Slide Guitar, Guitar; Dru Lombar – Guitar; Duane Roland – Slide Guitar, Guitar (Rhythm), Guitar; Jai Winding – Keyboards; Jimmy Farrar – Vocals;

Playlist: The Very Best of Molly Hatchet

Playlist: The Very Best of Molly Hatchet

$7.17

Released in 2010, Playlist: The Very Best of Molly Hatchet has a pair of songs that also made 2003’s Essential (the defining “Flirtin’ with Disaster” and “Boogie No More”), but this budget-line comp doesn’t attempt to recycle the familiar hits — it digs into album tracks to present an alternate history of the band. For a product of the vinyl age like Molly Hatchet, think of Playlist as a modern-day variation of a Greatest Hits, Vol. 2 or More of the Best release. It’s not the collection that gives you all the hits — it’s what you turn to after you’ve absorbed those tunes and are looking for another dose without resorting to full-length albums. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, Rovi

Some longtime fans of Molly Hatchet would argue that because guitarist Dave Hlubek is the only original member heard on Greatest Hits, Vol. 2, this isn’t really a Molly Hatchet album, that it is really the work of a Molly Hatchet tribute band or cover ban
